Can anyone advise on a suitable porch awning for our van. We will use it over winter so we don't think one of the lightweight awnings would do. We looked online at Bradcot, Starcamp and Pyramid awnings but are now completely confused. One more thing, it looks as though any awning would partly cover the window. Does this matter?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Country lass

We have an Isabella Magnum porch awning for our Bailey Senator which goes over a window. We put a piece of felt between the awning and the window to prevent scratches. We originally got it for a Bailey Pageant where it missed the windows. Obviously the seal between the awning and caravan isn't the best but it's not to bad.

Have a look here for a winter awning that might suit

If you want plenty of space, same depth as a full awning and able to take the annex if needed, I have a Bradcot portico XL with easy alloy poles for sale, depending on where you are of course.

This awning uses the rear channel that aids stability in the winter winds, coming accross the window only really matters if you want to open the window!

Have a look on the bradcot website again anyway.

We looked at lots of stuff on the net and eventually found the Ventura Winter porch. Our full size awning came from Glossop Caravans Awningland so we called them and although it's not listed on their website they said they could source it in a couple of days and they priced it very competitively. We should have it by the end of next week in time for a trial before winter.

Thanks Mike and Martin.

Thanks Sir Roger

I did look but we've already ordered the Ventura. The description says it's designed for winter use. Winter in Scotland can be quite snowy so we hope we've made the right move.

Love the name. We have a Bradcot Portico and it's perfect for shoes and a couple of deck chairs. We even eat out there when it's nice weather but it's really an entrance space. The portico XL would be a great size for even more activities...dancing...he he....
