As I am new to caravanning I would appreciate your input in the choice of awning for my Elddis caravan. I am looking for a reasonably large awning that can be put up reasonably quickly [15 mins tops] decent quality and the cheaper the better. I have been looking at basecamp 390 and Sunncamp 390 is there much difference in these, they look identical. The sunncamp is considerably dearer but is this worth paying for the increase in quality. The awning is to be used mainly for eating in and storing mountain bikes out of sight but as we progress it may be useed for other things. thank you very much for any advice thanks Mark.

Mark, as with most things, you only get what you pay for, in terms of quality.

Putting up a large porch awning would take no longer than a full awning, and each would become quicker with practice.

We have a Bradcot Active full awning, and with the 2 of us working together, it takes about 20 mins to put up, and after all, what is 20 mins when on holiday?

Dont forget, you are supposed to be relaxing, its not a race.LOL

Hi Mark

We bought the new Sunncamp 360 porch so pleased with it, we went out the following week and bought the 390.

Pleased with this one too.

We had a Bradcot classic which came with the awning, zips have gone on all entrances thinking of throwing in the bin.

Sunncamp awaiting inner tents to come in, cannot wait.

We have an Elddis Typhoon GT.

Hope this of help.

Thanks for your replies looks like its the sunncamp awning. Mark
Hi Mark, we have a Bailey Ranger 510/4 and after putting stuff in the van for 2 kids the weight issue really played a part, we too needed a large awning for when our eldest child visits and stays over so we got a Sunncamp 390 and boy oh boy are we pleased. It is very roomy, we got a bedroom inner and that fits fine, we can still seat up to eight people in the awning for evening entertainment, plus we are about to go and buy a 260 for when just the 2 kids come. They are light, easy to put up, great value, and light enough to throw over the bannister if we arrive home and it is wet. Good luck in your search but always try awnings direct as not many can compete with there prices especially with them offering free delivery on orders over
