Hi. I have an Elddis Avante 556 which over some time has suffered a leaking front window which has completely perished the Pot Shelf at the front of the van. I have had someone check the damage and that is all that has sustained damage knowehere else.

Has anyone else experienced this and was it easy to replace the pot shelving?

I am considering getting a carpenter to look at it for me but am unsure where I could get the correct coloured ply (beech effect) to match the rest of the interior.

Your help and suggestions would be gratefully received. Thank you.

By Pot shelf do you mean the shelf immediately inside the front window at the bottom of the window - what you might call a window cill in a house ?
If so, this would certainly seem like a job for a carpenter.
The problem I see is that most readily available venneered chipboard only comes in f rew standard rectanguler section sizes, so as soon as you shape it you are left with a raw edge. Matching iron-on tapes are sold to cover such edges but it is not easy to get a goodlooking join especially for a position perhaps in full view.
You may want tc consider a redesign using the nearest standard size board so you don't have such edges showing.
If you Goole 'veneered chipboard' or similar words you will find a number of suppliers some of who have several shades called beech. Some will cut to your sizes.

Thank you very much for your very helpful reply Ray. Yes it is the shelf directly at the front of the van between the front windows and the set of draws. I could possibly do it myself by making a template, sourcing the ply myself, but as you have suggested, a carpenter would do a more precise job. Also a carpenter would have better knowledge of where to purchase the wood from.

Thanks again.
