Ok to cut to the chase we picked up our new caravan today. When arrived the proprietor told us he could not get the motoer mover we wanted(series 6) but had fitted it with a series 4. He told us it was 150quid difference and gave it to us in goods. Adrian then said why have you fitted it to the front axle as it needs to be fitted to the back." No", he answered "it depends on the make of caravan". We got home and then had an hour struggle and one of the nieghbours to help to turn it round. We have been on powertouch website and there id a £400 difference and it should have been fitted to the rear axle not the front. What do i do next people?

If your caravan is a twin axle, it should be fitted to the rear wheels, at least that is what the installer who fitted ours told me.

But on our caravan, it could not be fitted to the rear wheels, as we have a mule security device fitted.

It still works fine with our caravan though (Bessacarr 650gl Cameo I think).

I just make sure the nose is a little heavy and lower the jockey wheel, so the drive is mainly on the front wheels.

By the way, ours is the Power Touch model 4.

Hope that helps.

Diane, as a fitter for Powrtouch I can tell you that it is preferable to fit movers to the rear axle of Twin axle vans, as it is easier to raise the front of the van to reduce the drag on the front set of wheels when turning the van.

However, it is the Customer who decides which is best for them, and the mover can be fited to the front if that is what they want, normally, unless shock absorbers get in the way, then the fitting location is determined by that.

As for the price difference, but bear in mind as a fitter I have absolutely nothing to do with pricing, ring the person you bought from and demand to know what happened to the other money.

He should have given you the cash back, NOT the value in goods, as he will have sold you the goods at retail prices but have bought at trade prices,a lot of difference!!!

Argue usig the Sale and Supply of Goods Act, where you are legally entitled to the cash refund as it is he who has not fulfilled the contract, not you just changing your mind.

If that fails, go to a solicitor and get him to write to the dealer.

Thanks for that lads, caravan is an abbey spectrum 540 and for some reason the motor mover dos'ent seem to have enough power to shift it. Going to ring power touch tomorrow to see what they can do and will speak to Andrew from pearman, Briggs about the rest of the cash. Any other info will will be apprieciated.

Due to spare wheel and kojak jacking points had my mover ( Truma) fitted to front wheels on a Bailey Ranger 620 twin axle.
It works really well but it does help with manouvering if you lower the jockey wheel.
