Hi, we have Reich fitted to our new Abbey. Work well enough but very close to ground. Cracked one of the covers on a speed hump in France last week. Can't see them lasting somehow.

I have the Powrtouch with electric actuator and have some slight concern about the lowness of it

The Reich seems to be even lower though and there have been postings about damage to them

They also seem to stick out at the side and at least one posting told of the mover catching on a kerb and being ruined

Changing a wheel with the Reich has also been a problem for some people when the van suspension drops it can sometimes foul the mover.

Powrtouch also give a 5 year warranty

Over the years there have been probably hundreds of threads on movers. I've not kept an accurate tally, but my impression is that Powrtouch just about match or out-number all the rest put together, and apart from some critiscm of the weight, there has been very little adverse comment, but lots of praise for the service and the warranty. I've had one over five years and would not lightly consider anything else. (No connection with the company - unfortunately - i should have bought shares years ago).

Ray there has been neligable adverse comments about any product as the Practical Caravan moderators would not allow it. It all started some few years ago with the bad publicity an insurance comapny were receiving on this forum and threatened to sue and ever since any suspect posting has been censured.

have looked at mine and it doesnt stick out at all possibly the damaged one was not fitted correctly as the two assemblies are clamped to an adjustable bar.I accept they can be a problem jacking up and I ahve read the gap may have to be increased, how this affects the friction/grip I have no idea as I have not had to do it,mine is ok when jacked up.If I had to replace it though I would probably go for the same one again, just due to its reliability

Hi David there are different models of Reich

Some that wind on and some that lever on etc so they are not all going to protrude the same amount

I was trying to give a balanced comment and your remarks help to address that balance

Regards

Plotter, yes it appears to be.

May I inquire why you may have had different thoughts?
hi mod because we have a rikhe mover on the van we have now and its only 2 years old but it does hang low. i think the powertouch ones are higher and you get a better guarantee. im changing my van for the last time and i must get it right this time.

Iv had a powrtouch on my other caravan, it was ok but struggled on the driveway, im considering a reich, but i am worried about stories of it being too close to the ground. Powrtouch are selling a product made in the far east now days and im not sure about that, iv narrowed it down to Truma and Rhyno both similar prices rhyno fits a little higher of the road than truma and seems to be a simpler arrangement, Truma has the auto engagment thingy , but im struck by the less to go wrong ethic. There is the last option this enduro mover, another offering from the far east sold through purple line, i have read on other chat rooms of wires burning out and control boxes overheating, something im very wary of, i have had a look at one at the storage where i keep the bailey, it does look cheap and cheerful (this season) i wonder what it will look like next after a cold wet winter. My Father always used to say you get what you pay for! I have read the reports on here in the comparison, Rhyno and Trauma have the best write up but she can't decide!!!

Ive had my Powrtouch recently fitted at their factory in Dorset. The units are certainly NOT made in the far east as I saw them being made in front of my eyes in the factory. I beleive that some of the componenets are bought in from external suppliers ( I mean where are all electronics made these days?). My experience of movers is that Powrtouch still has the best ground clearance compared to others and who else offers such a comprehensive, full, free, 5 year parts and labour guarantee with nationwide coverage? Only one mover for me..Powrtouch.
