Is it correct that Truma have taken over powrtouch?.

If this is the case I suspect that will be the end of a superb customer after sales service.

Regards

It does indeed appear to be correct. Several members have reported that the Truma and PowrProducts stands at the NEC show have both said this is true.

Just how this will affect us remains to be seen.

My last caravan was fitted with a Powrtouch mover and the fitting service and aftersales service was first class.

My current van has a Truma mover fitted and fortunately has only needed greasing at the first annual service. When I had problems with several bulkhead regulators Truma customer services were a nightmare to dael with !

Hi there

I went down and collected my mover in person from Powrtouch airspeed Rd Dorset last year thay were great could not do enough for you the service was first class which is somthing now days. I fitted it myself a home and did have a few problem which thay talked me through after talking with there engineers. I do hope things do not change BUT Truma does exactly that send you into a truma big campany high prices over paid fat cats at the top looks after share holders rip off the customers.SAY NO MORE

Truma has now had Powrtouch for the past six months and there has been no difference in service up until now. The plan is to keep running the two companies seperate for the foreseeable future as far as I am led to believe.

Hi all,

As the Powrtouch agent for New Zealand, I was obviously concerned at the story of the "take over" by Truma.

I e mailed Powrtouch in Christchurch UK recently expressing my concern and received the following reply.

"Thanks for your recent e:mail. The true picture is....we have been purchased by the owner of Truma, not Truma themselves. This happened over 6 months ago and the decision to go public now was made to reinforce the message that nothing is going to change. Our brand, location, products, market strategies and infrastructure will all remain unaffected. Truma certainly did not promote our product on their stand at the NEC show, in fact we still compete with them directly, particularly when selling into the trade, we have in fact won Truma accounts since we were purchased.

In summary, nothing changes. How are things down in NZ?? "

So, like me you can relax.

Happy caravan moving!

Hi Kiwi Pete

Thanks for the info. Let's hope what Truma say remains true for many years.

I suspect the owners of Powrtouch were made such a good offer by Truma it was hard to refuse. Maybe they were right in view of the current economic climate.

The Powrtouch brand has a good name here and dopes what it says on the box. Let's hope Truma keep the brand and the design.

Cheers

Hi Alan,

With due respect YOU DIDN'T READ MY POST PROPERLY.

Powrtouch HAVE NOT been purchased by the Truma company.

They have been purchased by the owner of Truma, BUT they will continue to trade as Powrtouch, as a completely separate entity and in competition with Truma.

I should also mention that the e mail was from Powrtouch, not Truma.

Hi Pete

To me it's the same thing whether it's the owner or the name of one of his / her companies.

We have the same issues here with Abramovich and the Chelsea Football Club. Who does the buying and owning?? Ultimately it must be the owner.

So even if what has been said is true I have to ask myself why a person would want two seperate companies doing pretty much the same thing, in certain areas.Basically thay are competing with each other for the same business?

Let's hope Powrtouch as a brand remains unmolested and continues to thrive.

Cheers

Alan
