I am pleased you are happy with the service you have received from Powerwheel

But there are other companies that also offer UK designed and built movers, and who have demonstrated good after sales service. Power wheel are not unique in these respects.

hi K

glad you got a speedy solution, like johnL says there are many supplyers of movers out there that offer good after sales and repair service.

the thing that worries me though is no matter how good their repair service is in order for it to be repaired it must have broke in the first place, the better the service the more they break eh NO well never mind it was just a thought.

Another vote for Powrwheel. Mine is just out of its five year warranty period on a mover which I fitted myself. I've needed to contact them twice in the five years. First time was at 18 months when the rubber motor covers were showing signs of cracking. They promptly sent me two new covers. At four years, one of the rollers started shedding it's grit surface. They quickly sent me two new rollers. Both times an offer was made to send out a fitter.

Hi K, not to pour water on your post, but recently I was talking to powerwheel and told me that the electric motors are made in the far east and assembled in the UK.

I also have a mover by powerwheel and I think they are friendly reliable and everything a "British" company should be.

Truma bought Powrtouch a while back yet still market the movers under their individual brands. Dad in law has a Truma and when a roller fell off they had a new one plus circlip shipped to us at Ullapoll, next day delivery. Excellent. My Powrtouch mover is 2 years old , all ok.

Isn't it price that has also played a big part?

Cheers

Chris

There was thread on another site that stated that all the motors for the movers were made at the same UK factory

But who knows these days

I bought a pair of CLARKES shoes and under the tongue it said "Made in Vietnam"

I looked at a similar pair at another CLARKES shop and under the tongue it said"Made in Cambodia"

I found this on the topic of Made In UK

"It definitely applies to Reich. I have a Reich mover and I know where the motors were made, in fact, the makers name is under the Reich label. It also applies to Truma (whose name appears manufacturer's website) and Rhyno and I am fairly certain Powrtouch as well. I will qualify by saying the latest models may have changed but I doubt it as the motor manufacturer is a specialist in this field.

Hi,

I had a problem recently with my mover and Powrtouch were very good. Swift response and replaced parts without exception.Got speaking to the friendly fitter, who confirmed that some parts are sourced outside of the UK.

He also said that Truma had not actually taken over Powrtouch but a Director of Truma had put a substantial amount of money in to the company.

powrwheel get my vote. 4 years into the 5 year waranty they showed rust marks on the painted metal, contacted the company was asked to photograph the mover and within 1 week all the metal parts of the mover were delivered foc with a phonecall to arrange fitting. The movers still had new motors attached which the fitter left on so new mover total bar the electronic box

Will buy from them again

Like Watson(JohnG) I had a Carver/Truma and had a bad experience of their customer care.

Having my van serviced a week before going away the mechanic found a cracked lever which promptly fell in half as he tried to dismantle the mover. No worries he said, they will send me one by Tuesday, this was a Friday.

Sorry they said, the factory is closed two weeks for stock taking and nothing goes in or out of the factory. They did explain that if the stock taking finished earlier they would get the part off to me. Needless to say we had to cancel our trip away because we couldn't get the van off the drive.

Having bought a new van this year I had a PowrTouch fitted simply because of all the positive posts I've seen about them in different forums and never having seen a negative post which means a lot because people, usually, are more forthcoming about complaints than good service.

If anyone owns a Truma just hope that it doesn't go wrong in July, the height of the holiday season, because if so it's tough doo-doo.

I purchased a used caravan which already had a powerwheel fitted. After 2 years when the mover was 6 years old it stopped working.

I phoned powerwheel and they diagnosed the problem over the phone and offered to send the replacement free of charge or arrange for a fitter to do the work, at a small charge.

Considering I had not purchased the mover from them it was fantastic service so much so that when I purchased a new caravan it was no contest about the make of the mover that I had fitted.

A forum member posted on here about 18 months ago that he'd bought a second hand caravan with a PowrTouch mover fitted which according to the documentation was over 5 years old. The problem was the protective paint on the movers was peeling off so he rang PowrTouch. They replaced and fitted two new motors FOC although this person wasn't the actual purchaser.

This was one of many posts regarding PowrTouch that persuaded me to buy one. Maybe the person who made the post is still a member on here.

If the search engine on this forum was up to speed I'd dig it out but at my age I can't afford to waste the years looking for it.
