Practical Caravan Magazine Subscription

Hi,

I've had a couple of phone call regarding me renewing my subscription tothe magazine.

Offering me 25% discount and a free Autoglym pack.

The guy on the the phone had a great sales pitch and had answers for everything!

I was keen to renew but he insisted I had to do it over the phone and I had to him my bank details.

In this day and age where there is so much fraud using credit cards etc I asked him to send me a direct debit form and I would return it to him but he said I would lose the Autoglym offer.

He said he was trustworthy but how do I know?

Has anyone else had a phone call asking to renew like this and are they legit?

Hi,

Any "cold calls" like that, which I may be interested in, I always ask for a number which I can ring them back on that goes through the main switchboard. If they say they cant do that...thanks but no thanks!
 
Surely if it was a subscription renewal, they would already have your bank details. Mine renewed recently and all i got was a letter telling me the price had gone up.

Thank you for the post regarding the subscription offer you received.

I can confirm that yes we are telephoning readers of Practical Caravan at the moment offering them special subscription offers. For our customer's protection we do not hold bank details of past subscribers on file. This is in accordance with best practice and is a security recommendation by the banks. We do therefore need to take a customer's payment details again to set up a direct debit, even if they have subscribed with us before.

me too I never get any of these freebies, perhaps when my subs due for renewal I should leave it untill someone rings me
