Practical Caravan - March issue

We have a subscription to Practical Caravan magazine, which is renewed annually at this time.

The March '09 copy came today and on page 124 is an advert saying: "FREE! When you subscribe to Practical Caravan magazine" along with a picture of a nice squirrel resistant RSPB Premium bird feeder.

Why do those of us who renew our subscriptions miss out on offers that are available at the time of the renewal? After all I would we are still taking out a new subscription for the coming 12 months, like anyone else.
 
Just keep changing your subscription from one partner, to the other. We do this with the RSPB (don't tell them) - and get the special offers, and gifts each time. We also get a 'welcome back to the RSPB letter' too!

I too used to swap and find it disgusting that as a regular subscriber I miss out on the freebies and often the monthly rate is less than I am paying so I am tempted to cancel as well

Have you tried ringing up and asking for the freebie? I do this every now and again with Bike Magazine and so long as you've not had the offer for a while they are happy to oblige to keep the business. Again comes down to not kicking the butt out of it but then I don't weant all the freebies. Alsop I don't think it states 'Not available to existing subscibers' so no reason not to ask the question.
 
Alf, I did enquire as suggested, but it is for new subscribers only. Even though I have newly renewed my subscription for another new year, strangely it doesn't apply to me.
 
I have thought about cancelling and renewing before but have always found that the renewal price is cheaper than the offer price.
 
A couple of months ago a prize every month was offered for the person who reported the best(?) mistake in the mag

Has anyone seen who got the prize or seen a retraction of the reported mistake/s?

Or was it a mistake in printing the contact email address?
