preffered caravan route to Ayr

I am travelling from the Manchester area to Ayr in a few weeks time. I shall obviously take the M6 North to Carlisle/Scottish border, but what is the best caravan route from there to Ayr.

I am OK with instructions once on the outskirts of Ayr.

hi jhon i whent to ayr last year from birmingham the best route i found was m6 on to a74/m74 get off junc 12 and follow the a70 wasnt to busy
