Hi all, we are in the process of considering joining the CC.Our family loves smaller low key sites.I have been on the CC website, but I'm unclear of the price banding. At peak times, the pitch costs £7.10, Adults £5.50,kids £2.15, this totals £20.25 per night for two adults and a child, not exactly cheap like I thought.Have I priced correctly? or does the pitch price include 2 adults?

Thanks, Trudy.

I think you have probably priced correctly it depends on site and season. Join the CCC it is much cheaper for the same periods and the sites are just as good.

Yes, you have worked it out correctly for the price. As you say, not exactly cheap. The Caravan Club sites used to be very very clean...not so much the case now. I stayed at Ferry Meadows recently and the shower facility blocks were decidedly not too clean. You could always consider using what the Club call "certificated locations", which are basically a small site usually at a private dwelling, or farm. Much more economic, as they rarely charge beyond

Denis,

You say CCC sites are as good as CCclub sites. We have found this not to be true.

CCC shower blocks we find are of a lower standaed and are often not heated.

CCC hard standings are nowhere near the standard of CC hardstandings, and sometimes are not defined.

CCC electrics are often 10 amp not 16 amp like the CC club.

Yes you can sometimes save money on CCC sites, especially if like us you are over 55.

hi, i always go on cc sites and wont go anywhere else. the facilities aresecond to none and usually the site are immaculate.

alot of the cc sites have a play area and a dog walk. some even have play fields. there is a no ball games rule which i agree with because i wouldnt want my van or car damaged by someone else child and i wouldnt wan mine to damage anybodys outfit either. mine have a swing ball so that cant do any damage.

i hav looke pricein the past of other commercial sites and non cc site and i have priced my famly of 2 adults and 2 kids up to about

Trudy,

The caravan Club do not charge extra for dogs, awnings showers.

The only extra i can think of is for use of the laundry facilities.

The club set high standards and this is why a lot of people will only use Caravan club sites.

You also have the benefits offered to club members.

Rules such as dogs on leads, no ball games near caravans, no washing lines are there for the benefit of all members.

Many Caravan Club sites have television hook up points and 35 plus sites have Wi-Fi for computers.

Only a couple of Club sites have bars, but this does not stop members from socialising both inside and outside their caravans.

Hi Trudy

85% of our chosen sites are CC ones. As Jo-anne says you know they will usually be of a high standard although Phil seems to have found otherwise. All the ones I have been to have been excellent.

Price wise I still think they are good value especially if can choose the value or ow seasons.

We're doing Cornwall in May.

7 nights at a commercial site near St Ives is

Thanks everyone-

I've been looking into the CC more closely today, and we feel we will probably get our monies worth,if we can stick to our usual distance of travel of around 1 hour for a two night stay.Hubby drives for a living and doesnt want to be spending all his time in the car!!!!

We are particulary interested in Cheddar CC, Tewkesbury Abbey CC,Longleat CC ,Moreton in the Marsh and Cirencester. We will look further afield for longer stays.

Any views welcome

Trudy.

I can mention another site in your area of interest, and can recomment it...Blackmore CC site, just outside Malvern. It is a little awkward to find, but worth it. All the times I have been there it has been v. good, not too busy, and always clean. And maybe because of the placement, not too busy with kids either. Under no circumstances bother with Clumber Park or Ferry meadows (both out of your area in any case). And as for the no-ball games rule on cc sites....crap, nobody gives much of a toss anymore about that. Avoid popular sites with kids!
