Primus 2490 not igniting

I tried helping a relative figuring out why his Primus 2490 isn't running on gas, but didn't really get anywhere.

When turning it on you can hear the gas flowing and a barely audible clicking several times per second. No signs of igniting though. We've tried replacing the electrode, but the instructions says to make sure that it's close to the "spark tower" (translated from swedish), but with no instructions on how to actully check that it is close to it. Maybe visible if you can get the top off of the heater?

It has run after winter, but perhaps a bit fussy, and the last time it ran he said that it didn't properly turn off so the temperature in the caravan got really warm, and after that it wouldn't start. Unclear if that's related though. The room temp thermostat properly turns on and off the led on the control panel, so that seems to be working.

We did the diagnostic test from the instructions, measuring some voltages in the control panel, including the thermostat, and it passed those.

Could it be the thermostat on the heater? How would it behave if that wasn't working properly? Can you verify that the electrode is properly giving a spark?

Really thankful for any guidance you can give, have really found very little info when googling.
