Hi everyone

We like the look of some of the Bucanneer caravans apart from the privacy windows. Does anyone have any experience of these with regards to lack of light, gloom, etc., Thanks. Chris

Could be useful on some sites I've been on, the sort where people insist on walking across your site to get to the toilet or water tap, or pitch their tent so close they can count the peas on my plate!

We have privacy windows on our van. They are brilliant. They keep the glare of the sun out, which helps to prevent fading of upholstery and they keep inquisitive stares from people out. As Lutz says, they are no darker than car privacy windows.

I am amazed how many vans pull down the blinds and hide behind them the minute the sun goes down. Whats the big deal or is it the fact that we don't shut the curtains at home in lots of rooms so we are not in the habit. If someone cares to have a look in my van windows as they are passing I don't care, but I like the feeling of being part of the great outdoors when the blinds are open.

Quite right Rioja .The only blinds to come down in my van are the fly screens when the windows are open .[Like you i like to be part of the outdoors ,.Watching new arrivals is always fun ,especialy if they are putting a awning up.

rediculous, isnt it our right to have a little privacy?

i resent people walking through pitches, even if they are empty, i always walk the road way to the shower block, i think those that dont have no respect for others.

i keep my window blinds open all evening until bed time, the reason that many people feel forced to pull the blinds down is too keep the nosy folk away, we arent all on big brothder you know.

those that walk through pitches even empty should be thrown off site, for the time you pay for the pitch its your garden, or would you like me trampling across your home lawn?

privacy blinds need not be essential, courtesy is best.

Hi Mike, we all have our likes and dislikes .

I dont walk on occupied pitches ,or stair into vans ,.

For my sins i have walked over unoccupied pitches ,so i guise i would be thrown of site by your Gestapo.

Oh ,I dont like wind breaks[ but live and let live ].

Cant say i love wind breaks either, but if they keep people away from my van they are worth putting up with.

My Gestapo would do more than throw pitch walkers off site, we would tackle the transit vans too, then move onto the kids with footballs. A new day dawns.

I think i may have taken this a little off topic though, replying to the original post, i think the privacy windows look fine from the outside, rather attractive to be honest.

Don't get my wife started on windbreaks (the anti-Christ of caravanning) - wind breaks not my wife that is !!

As for the windows - i think they looked rather classy but taking this of track its only time before the average caravan is truely "pimped" with a set of 18 inch alloys !!

Hi Mike,What punishment would your gestapo inflict on these wayward pitch walkers and kids with footballs ?

The Mikado had some suitable punishments to fit the crimes

Hi there Coljac, truth be told? it would almost certainly involve some growing of bamboo shoots. not quite gestapo I know but fair and just.

maybe not though, would be a waste of good bamboo!

(Before you all go shouting at me, I am of course only jesting)
