Privacy windows

I've just been to see the new Lunar Delta TL for the second time, but still can't make my mind up about the privacy windows.

On the one hand, I like the fact that you get extra privacy, just as you do from net curtains at home. But on the other hand, they seem to send a please-don't-approach, no-trespassers kind of a message that doesn't sit easily with me.

What do you think?

They probably love talking to people just don't want to sit in a goldfish bowl while in the privacy of their caravan.

I like them and lets face it if I want to strike up a conversation I go outside not sit and watch tv.

We have privacy windows on our caravan. It isn't that we 'don't want to talk' its just that it was the caravan we wanted. It did take us a couple of years to become accustomed to them prior to making our purchase, but we would certainly have them again. Live and let live.

We have net curtains in our Burstner.

I think they look more friendly & homely than privicy windows.

Try siting in a van with privicy windows in the open. My wife recons that they make the inside of the van dark.

They are a case of love them or hate them.

In the evenings with the lights on you can see in the van no problem.

The inside is still very bright and not dark at all.

They are great in the summer as they keep the van cool, ive seen vans on hot days with all the sun blinds down to keep the sun out is that not the same?

I dont see a problem with privacy windows. We tend to leave the net Fly screens permanently down in our van, its not that we dont want to talk to people it just gives that extra bit of privacy.

I think they are great.

I was studying for exams last year and did lots whilst in the van at weekends.Nobody could see me so no popping in to say hello,a bit selfish but when i needed a break i went outside to talk.

I hadn't thought about the fact that they keep the inside of the van cool in the summer. Can't wait to test some on a hot summer's day now!

I think that although they look a little anti-social, everyone's entitled to their own space. And anyway, once the weather warms up you'll more than likely see the owners outside their van, enjoying the sun.

That does it, I think I'm a convert.

Hi Mark,

Have to admit I don't have a particularly strong view on privacy windows although I do think they look good next to the white of the caravan.

I have always had a preference for Swift group caravans, we currently have an Abbey GTS vogue, but we saw the Delta TL at the NEC and thought it was lovely. It was our favourite of the show and, had we been in the market for a new 'van, it would have definitely been a real contender.

Looks very classy inside and seems to be be well built. Being picky the only thing I didn't like (my wife desn't agree)was the metalwork on the cupboard doors. Wouldn't stop me buying one though.

Good luck!

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve,

I agree, the Delta TL is a lovely van.

Most of the feedback that I've heard has been overwhelmingly positive. If I was planning on touring with a family in tow, it'd be on my wish-list, too.

We'll be looking at one in more detail in the mag soon, so keep your eyes out for a thorough review.

What didn't you like about the metalwork? Can't say it stood out to me, but everyone's different, eh?

Best,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Totally agree with you about everyone being different. It would be pretty boring if we were all the same lol!

I just didn't like the feel of the metalwork, well specifically the button used to unlock the cupboards. I didn't think it was very precise and on all of the catches, the buttons felt loose. I'm sure they weren't about to fall off but I just thought on a van of that calibre they would have a more positive action.

My wife doesn't agree and thinks they are fine so I am probbly being too picky! (wouldn't be the first time lol!)

I look forward to a full review of it

Kind Regards

Steve

I think they look good, not necessarily from the privacy point of view, but for the practicality side, keeping the 'van cool!

IMO pulled down fly screens gives out a more negative message than darkened windows!
