There is no direct PM system on this forum. However, if you ask one of our lovely moderators nicely they will pass on your email address to the recipient of your choice with your request for the said recipient to contact you.

Perhaps "one of our lovely moderators" would be kind enough to move this thread to the appropriate section. This one is supposedly for caravanning matters.

Getting very particular, aren't we? ;) That's 2 you've pointed out are in the wrong topic. :)

As you obviously have a problem with the forum and how it operates, maybe you should consider starting your own, with your rules and regulations.
As far as the topic being in the wrong section, if you look carefully the section is GENERAL, into which this topic falls as it is regarding caravan equipment, which surprisingly falls into caravanning matters.

To be honest I have not bothered to look.

The other one was one of my postings he was moaning about, hence my comment. ;)

The OP does not mention anything about caravan equipment in his post, he simply asks whether he can send a private message.

The OP has raised questions on previous threads and now asks a sensible one because he wants to talk to another Forumite. I really don't see what your fussing about Chalky :eek:hmy:

Chalky
If we're going to be strictly pedantic about this the word for word description of topic matter for the General message board is:
'Express your views and let off steam about general caravanning issues'
The wording isn't 'Express your views about caravanning issues' so the substance is defined using the verb 'Express' and doesn't necessarily mean that the views expressed can only deal with general caravanning issues.
This is dealt with in the second set of phrasal verbage in which the idiom is 'caravanning issues'.
I see that you are a relative newcomer to this forum Chalky, and for reasons best known to yourself you've appointed yourself as the message board police on two threads in the past few days.
As I stated in your earlier intervention, there is a report button in the bottom right corner of forum replies and if you genuinely feel that there is something wrong with submitted forum materiel, such as unauthorised advertising or a likelihood of a query or important piece of information not receiving replies due to it appearing on the wrong message board, please click on the button and either Damian or myself will check it.
I strongly advise against continuing to post messages about inappropriate message boards in case fellow forum members wonder if your behaviour is inappropriate.
If your recent responses are 'banter' or even 'moddy baiting' - Dont. It never ends well. ;)
Just to be absolutely clear, both Damian and myself often submit forum replies but either red or green text denotes that we're posting as forum moderators hoping to offer help or guidance for the use of this forum.

One Mod says the OP's posting is fine because it IS about caravanning issues, the other says the category isn't about caravanning issues. I'm confused.

I did not set out to "moddy bait" but I find you both insufferable so I will bid you goodnight.

Well, there we go.
I find your attitude equally insufferable and confrontational so you are now banned from the site.

It might be a good idea to mention that the reason for the PM was to discuss some Herzim trim, so it was a caravanning matter ;)

I have to confess to feeling guilty gents, if I'd mentioned in my post it was about the Herzim trim none of this would have kicked off, the last thing I wanted to do was to cause trouble on this forum.
Can I ask what an OP is please.

Sean.

Please don't feel guilty Sean, you did absolutely nothing wrong and have every right to ask a question on this forum no matter which message board it may appear on.
Both Damian and myself can easily move any posting to a different message board or even add it to a different thread with just a couple of mouse clicks, and I often have a look round to see if anything needs to be moved, so it's really no big deal.
It's quite rare to have to deal with a keyboard warrior these days, but sometimes for reasons best known to themselves the occasional hothead decides to have a pop at either a fellow forum member or the moderators.
When it's aimed at us it's water off a ducks back for both Damian and myself, we've seen it all before and try to calm things down with a bit of humour if possible.
Our erstwhile friend who had a message board problem had allowed his feelings of pent up anger or frustration to get the better of him in this instance.
He'd been a bit sarcastic and antagonistic in a couple of his posts and I did try my best to calm him down, but he wouldn't heed my words of caution and had become insulting to the point where he was banned.
This used to happen quite often when men used internet message boards for the first few times, they experienced a sort of road rage like keyboard rage and began to hurl the sort of abuse via their keyboard that they'd never dream of introducing into a real conversation.
Since internet and internet forum and facebook use has become widespread we see less of this sort of thing because we begin to recognise the boundaries when communicating with others that we respect in our daily lives.
This was none of your doing Sean, as I mentioned we've seen it all before and if he hadn't decided to pick on your post it would have been something else, hopefully he'll learn by experience.

Damn, I've never seen anyone banned before, I best watch my Ps and Qs from now on.

BTW, today while rust proofing my (t)rusty VW Camper, I found yet another hole that needs welding, this time near the Leisure Battery Tray... hoo hum
