Proof of no claims

Hi All,

My caravan insurance is up for renewal at the end of the month, and this time I've decided to change to The Caravan Club.

Has anybody had any problems getting proof of no claims discount from an existing insurer? I've just requested proof from my existing insurer (E& L) and wondered if anyone out there has encountered problems, or should I expect them to be awkward about it?

Thanks

I have but it was with car insurance the new insurance tolled me they shod give it to me in the end I got it but I had to go to the brokers to sort it out which was no trouble has they were just in town.

But a year or two later the insurance brokers that would not give me proof of on claims was find to not be get people insurance they were just pocket the money I was glade I got out when I did.

Had a problem with Car Insurance, The company with the little red phone delayed before we could send it on to the one with the elephant. The one with the elephant delayed, before we could send it on to the one who makes you happy. They love you so much in this loss making industry, they just want you to stay with them to help them keep losing the money.

Sorry to say the same old thing - but use a good independent broker like Adrian Flux rather than the call centres of the "Directs" and you probably will not pay any more but you will certainly get the cover you need as long as you tell them what you want.

A broker will research and recommend the best deal for you the following year and so the issue of the NCB certificate never occurs.

It is difficult for me to comment on Marks claim regarding a broker pocketing the premiums rather than setting up the policies. But it sounds odd because who would pay money and not recieve a policy document or certificate of insurance? Which you need of course to get your car taxed.

These things do happen in syndicates for the Pools or the lottery where there is a good chance the thieving git will never get caught, but sadly claims are not that uncommon and you need to renew the policy in 12 months!

I do not doubt Marks word, but it would have to have been a shortlived problem before someone and the authorities (ABI FSA) twigged that something was wrong.

All,

I thought that "proof of no claims" died a few years back and the insurance companies do one of two things - accept your word for it and then check with your previous co in event of claim. Or you send a copy of your existing insurers renewal quote which usually states NCB
