Hi there,
My caravan uses propane (red bottles) with its subsequent connectors etc. However the bottles are not easy to get, the butane (yellow bottles) are much more readily available. Is it as simple as changing the regulator and connector to switch to butane?

Thanks.

Presumably you are not in the UK?

I would suggest that before changing that you take advice on the local Gas Regulations that it is permissible to use the yellow butane cylinders and that they are not just for patio use.

I could be with woodentop here, different country.
But if in UK;
calor dont show yellow bottles for butane although flogas do show yellow for butane and also the blue bottle.
But dont use the same regulator for the flogas yellow and blue,yellow one is 21mm and the blue is a 20mm regulator.

STOP DON'T DO ANYTHING YET!!!

Your forum name suggests you are using a Dethleffs caravan. You don't tell us how old your caravan is. Some older continental caravans use gas appliances rated at 50 mB, and not the current EU standard of 30mB. Check the data plate on some of the gas appliances and to see what they are rated for.

You must use a regulator that matches the gas type (Butane or Propane) and pressure for the appliances.

If in doubt seek help form your gas fitter.
