Pump up awning. Suitable for seasonal use??

My friend went to a local caravan dealer today to buy a pump up awning.
He was advised that this type of awning is not suitable for seasonal pitches.
He usually puts up the awning and leaves it up from April to September when the caravan is winter stored.

Has anyone any experience of such awnings and seasonal use . Are they suitable or was the salesman trying it on to sell a more expensive awning?

I was in a dealers and talking about the same thing last month. .. he said that Bracott were developing one and it would be at the NEC in February .
Ideally ask the manufacturer for there advice.

We used our pump up Awning for the first time last weekend (Suncamp 260Ai)r . It was very windy in Yorkshire . It went up in about 10 mins . It was brilliant .... BUT .It needed double the amount of tent pegs and of various designs to stop them pulling out. We purchased the rods this week to go up the sides ,they were blowing in . I personally wouldn't leave any awning up if its gusty enough something will happen . When they flap they rip !
