Looking at the advert in the current CC magazine and thought I would investigate as the picture looked like it was a quick and easy clamp in a similar fashion to our Bulldog max. However on investigation the video was no longer available and had been withdrawn by the manufacturer. In addition there was no mention of the product on the purple line website at all. I am making the assumption that ALKO have been throwing their weight around again and yet another easy to use and probably significantly product has had to be withdrawn.

If this is all down to product licences and patents I for one will be glad when time is up on them and we can have some user friendly and more reasonably priced products available to us.

Here endeth the rant about the big boys again!!

Hi Martin
Like you I looked at the ad,it seems to me to be the latest development from Purple Line,I have their Excalibur wheelclamp, which comes with a bracket that fits around the wheel,or if you use the locking plate and bolt it fits the Alko threaded receiver on the chassis. I had assumed that because it was supplied with its own bracket it got round the Alko patent problems,no where in the instructions does it recommend using the Alko mounting,it just so happens that it fits, there were plenty of photos and videos on the Internet when I was looking, and I got mine for £76 including delivery,

I also have the Excalibur and my wheel bracket is stored in the loft. When i purchased my caravan a reciever was fitted as standard, which is now my property. In the reciever is a standard thread, no patent on this. Therefore the reciever is mine ,the Excalibur is mine , so what i choose to do with it is up to me.So my message to Alko would be, is to manufacture something which is 100% patentable then you wont have any competition.
