hi im ian im new to caravaning my 1st season.

we bought a second hand caravan an abbey york with awning.

we put up awning for 1st time up at st andrews i was kind of lost when it came to putting on the pressure pads that fit to caravan.

my question where do i position the pads for hooking in poles as the awning looked loose and sagged in the middle.

can anyone advise me on this.

caravan is only 16 foot long.

Hi Ian,

I presume that you are talking about the pressure pads that look like suckers, and you've got three or four of these. They go inside the awning immediately beside the awning rail against the side wall of the van. The front and rear poles and pads should be just above where the awning roof meets the awning wall, with the remaining pads spaced evenly along the inside of the awning roof. The poles that come out from the pads attach to the front awning framework and are tensioned to hold the awning roof tight. The pads prevent dents or damage to the caravan wall

If you look at the roof end which you are threading through the caravan there appears to be two feeds. You probably threaded the wrong one which was difficult to feed through. If this was the case, the correct feed, the second one should be used, you will then find that it is easier to feed and will result in the other "feed" being inside the awning. The pads can then be fastened to the "feed" in the corners of the awning. The other pads are also fastened to the "feed" at the appropriate position in line with the other roof supports.
