Hi, we have been caravaning for a number of years but have never bought an awning almost all the vans we have had came with a
second hand awning with the sale, the last couple we have had have been the light weight porch type awnings but we are thinking of
one of the rolli awnings which attatch to the van via the awning rail i like the idea of having the choice of layout depending on the conditions and it was the panoramic type which i would go for, i would really like to see one on display to see how easy they are to errect and what the seal was like down the side of the van, problem being no body in scotland stocks them and they will not be at the secc in feb to look at has anyone got one of these to comment on ? or actually seen one on their travels ? £1200 is alot to pay if it isnt right !
thanks in advance

Chris.

Chris.

I haven't got one but have read that they are a strain on the awning rail when folded and travelling because the rail is only fixed by self tappers. Another complaint I heard was they fill with water so you have to be careful of not getting a soaking when pulling it out.

Never had a roll out of any sort, never liked the idea of it hanging there all the time putting weight on the awning rail, or the way it would perform in sudden winds. I don't like the idea of the weight up there either although many many people will say it makes no difference, however to my mind we are advised quite rightly to keep an eye on how we load and keeping weight low down, putting a roll out awning on the top of the van goes against this. I would stick to an ordinary awning. We use the porch (not lightweight, sold both of those soon after buying them) for weekends and full for all other times, I would say our 1050 bradcot concept takes about an hour to pop up which isn't really that bad!
