Radio

Hiya, I've been thinking of putting a car radio C.D. into my caravan but never got round to it as I was a little put off by having to fit the wiring and it not looking 100% hiden and neat, hence not having got round to it yet. Anyway, on Sunday 26th Oct I went into the caravan to change the time on the clock and had to remove a small panel to gain access to the clock and remove it. I noticed that behiind this panel theres the wiring for a radio and speakers. So off I went into the workshop to get my tester and try for power to the multi plug. It has got power and so I traced the speaker wiring and had to remove another small panel in the side over head locker each side and there it is, tested it and yep we got the power to speakers. So now it looks like it's going to just be cutting out the holes for the speakers and the radio itself and away we go, a nice pleasant surprise.

Do all or most newish vans if they are not already fitted with a radio have the wiring pre-installed.

When out shopping for a suitable unit check for the power consumption if you need it away from EHU.

So car radios are extremely power greedy; not an issue with the car alternator belting away but relevant if source only from the battery.

Best I think these days to have one that reads MP3s, ideally from a DVD so one disc holds up to 1400 tracks!
