"Rallies"

Having purchased our caravan this year, we have progressed from camp sites to CL sites with electrics and now CL sites with no electrics.

We are now looking into "rallies".

The question is what do you do at these rallies, I can see the social aspect of it, especially in the summer, where you can sit outside and socilize etc, but what happens in the winter, when its cold and dark outside?

We are quite new to caravanning too but did try a rally as part of Caravanning and Camping Club. We were made very welcome, although this rally was very much for people with children (we are in the older age range!!), as there was a clubhouse on site and activities all weekend. It is very much up to the individual as to how much socialising they want to do, but everyone was very friendly and we enjoyed the social evening with a few drinks.

We are trying our next one next weekend for the Goose Fair near Nottingham so will let you know how this goes!

Hi Ann. Thanks for that.I have been in touch with our local cc rally club who sounded very freindly and sent me a list of their rallies.

So we will give it a go sometime,like yourselves we are in the "older" range with no kids, but it seems some rallies are geared for kids more than others.

we went on a great rally twice this year in landundo north wales it is on the front oppisite childrens paddling pool the site was quiet at night this is a great site and you can walk into the shops and walk along the front great area to explore the rally was with the campingandcarvan club section the rally was on from the 2cd july to 18 th and the other section was 31st to sep 12th they usally do the same rallys every year another great rally is yew tree farm nr bewdley worctershire that is in the hoilday rally book as well sorry to go on a bit

Hello again Tim

We went to this rally which was massive - about 1500 caravans I should think! Lots of evening entertainment in large marquees (you need to be wrapped up!!). It was very good, the organisers from Nottingham DA were extremely friendly and helpful.

Although there were so many caravans, they were set out in groups within the forest type setting so didn't seem over-crowded. We didn't actually go to the Goose Fair as that is more for the younger set, but we really enjoyed it and would go again.

I think we have finished caravanning for this year now, never been in real winter weather!

I rally with a local Caravan Club centre up here in Scotland , more often than not we have a social evening in a hall with dances and a snack or supper halfway through , you just bring your own tipple and join in , the new year rallies in Scotland are very popular , Yours Aye ..
