can anyboby give me advice on the actual nose weight of my van, i've just got an xs sorento 2005 and have heard that they need about 115kg on the ball, will my van be to nose up or should the suspention, and loading slightly forward of the axle sort this out. any comments will be very useful, this will be my first time towing with this outfit. I know the total weight is 1425kgs

thanks

There's no way of telling what the actual noseweight is without measuring it.

You say that the car needs 115kg, but are you sure that isn't more than the limit specified for the caravan?. Most caravans have a 100kg limit.

what will be the best way to do this without a gauge? i know the towball limit is around the the 140kg mark, would it be best just to put the weight in the boot,

thaks for your imput Lutz, i just want the out fit to run level

The usual way to measure the noseweight is with bathroom scales and a stick of suitable length as a support, to ensure that the coupling is standing at the same height above the ground as if it were hitched up to the towball. But make sure you do this on level ground.
