Ok all,

Am thinking of going to Cornwall next year for a break with our caravan (Doris, a 2017 Bailey Unicorn Valencia ) and have never been - so, I need your help with suggestions and recommendations for good sites that have fully serviced hardstanding, preferably adult only, and........we will be travelling from West Oxon so would also like ideas for good places ( service stations etc) to stop along the way to break the journey up.

We use a Garmin Tourer 2 to plan our journey so we can avoid the pitfalls of getting stuck down roads that are too small for our Sportage and Doris.

Thanks.

I can't recommend an adults only site as we've always taken our daughter, but as you say you've never been to Cornwall I'd just offer a bit of advice. It's a bigger place than some folks think and getting to some attractions/places of interest can take a long time if your chosen base/site is elsewhere so (for me) I'd think about what I wanted to visit when there and then find a site that's close enough, it's easy to pitch up "in Cornwall" and then find it's an hour and a half (or more) to reach other parts of it.

As an example we stayed on a nice site in Bude a few years back, but the only local attraction within easy commute was Clovelly, everywhere else was a good drive away.

Trevellas manor near St Agnes. Not adult only but with limited facilities for kids (none) and it's very well spaced out you'd barely notice if some were there. And if you go outside school holidays that's probably unlikely.

Beautiful views and a great coastal path walk north to Perranporth or south to St Agnes. Good facilities, excellent toilets/showers. Theres also a caravan supply shop less than a mile away just incase you forgot something vital.

Make sure you approach from the north ;)

Service stations...

Don't try the one after Exeter, after you join the A30, there's no space for caravans. Better off with the Moto at Exeter if you need a services within 40miles either side of Exeter.

Every time go to Cornwall the weather takes an instant dislike and we end up stuck in the caravan. Have not been back to Cornwall for several years preferring south Devon or Dorset coast. :)

I have to admit we both prefer south Devon/Dorset as it just seems "prettier" (my wife's words, not mine, but I know what she means!).
