Recommendations burgundy area

Morning all,

We're off to France next month and the vague trip plan is;
Burges for 2 nights,
Metz area for 1 night stop over,
Burgundy area, possibly towards macon for a week or so.

Then heading upto Epernay and a random site near Calais for the trip back to North Nottinghamshire.

So, any recommendations for the Metz area and mid to south Burgundy?

Great municiple site in Chablis and another to the south in Vermenton, camping les collumeries.
We tend to just go and find a site by mid afternoon .

Do you mean Brugges or Bourges - I assume the former.
A better stop is Camping Blaarmeersen at Gent. Good site, superb facilities, and easy access. Then go down through the Ardennes and stop at Camping Kockelscheuer near Luxembourg city - far nicer area than Metz - and some of the cheapest fuel in Europe.

Going that way you don't have to pay motorway charges.

In Burgundy we stopped at the municipal at Verdun-sur-le-Doubs - Camp de Tourisme des Trois Rivieres - alongside the Saone river. About 20Km SE of Beaune but as it is not a tourist hotspot it is much cheaper. Facilities needed a bit of sprucing up last time we were there but they were clean and worked well. Lovely little old town as well.

If you want to stop in the Champagne region try Camping Nowack at Vendieres about 25Km SW of Reims. Small site - about 8 capacity - in the orchard of a wine producer. Superb personal facilities plus cooking, BBQ, and washing all included free. Popular site so ring in advance, some English spoken.
