Recommendations for insuring my German Van

Can anyone recommend an insurance company who deal with German Vans?

I have a UK spec Burstner & although my current insurer is happy to cover me with only a minimal extra cost they require that I fit an Alarm & a Phantom Tracker as well as my CRIS registration, hitchlock & wheelclamp!

Obviously this is quite an expensive option so before I pay up I thought I would see if there are any other companies or options available.

PS I believe that quite a lot of insurers won't touch German Vans, is this true?

Thanks

Caroline

CIS, Adrian Flux, & CaravanGuard are the main insurers of foreign 'vans.

Some insurers won't insure them because of the theft risk, which is why you're being asked to fit a tracker, etc.

Apparently some German 'vans, namely the Hobby and Tabbert, are twelve times more likely to be stolen than any other 'van.

Having said that, I have a two and a half year old Hobby and I only pay

Hi,

We have a Hymer Nova and when buying the van from Lowdhams they gave us a leaflet for Crusader Insurance who insure German Vans (I presume Lowdhams might be connected to Crusader somehow!)

No harm in giving them a try. 0845 051 0009

Hope this helps

try NFU Ive insured two german vans with them one was euro spec and the other a uk spec with no conditions other than wheel clamp and hitchlock, plus they were more than helpful when I had to make a total loss claim, and on price they were the most competative.
