Does anyone know of a good registry cleaner that they can recommend? I'm too tight to pay for something that might crash my puter.

I bought Roxio Easy Media Creator last October from PC World. I now want to put it on my laptop but had a problem during install but got a patch for Dell. I then encountered a Drag to Disk problem during the next attempt but fixed that, then I went to install it for the third time and now says I'm typing in the wrong licence key. I've emailed Roxio Tech Support twice now and am still waiting for a reply. It looks like another £50 I've wasted.

Is it any wonder people download pirated software when they get ripped off when buying the software legally?

Not needed it myself, but most techies use Regclean, which is free.

It does, however, have issues with Microsoft Office from 2000 version on.

Google will give you all the references you need.

I've never had satisfactory performance from Roxio since they first released it. What are you trying to use it for? there may well be a better solution!

Eusing - a great (and very efficient) free registry cleaner - http://www.snapfiles.com/php/download.php?id=109902&a=7123366&tag=601108&loc=10

And ToniArts Easy Cleaner - http://www.download.com/ToniArts-EasyCleaner/3000-2094_4-10529179.html

Hi Oldfogey, I use it for ripping, copying, making labels, video 7 audio editing, converting music formats plus a few others. I don't use it for photos because it is too basic and I would like to use the audio capture but thats another issue I have with it, it won't recognise my card. I did contact the Tech Support on that issue but their help didn't work :O(

Thanks Gary, I use CCleaner and have done for some time now but it didn't get rid of the Roxio dross in the registry hence the problems. I uninstalled it through Windows because Roxio didn't have it's own uninstall else I would have used that. I did see the Eusing but it only had one review, I might give that a go.

Thanks Bill. Actually the Dell came loaded with Roxio Creator DE which I assumed to be a light version and not the full Suite that I had bought. That is why I uninstalled the DE version to load up the full version I'd bought. Sadly thats when my problems started. Now I can't load it because it says I'm typing in the wrong licence key :O( which I'm not.

If Roxio don't come back it will be the last product of theirs I will buy. By coincidence, every week I get an email off them asking me to upgrade to Media Creator Suite 10.

If you have major problems you can alao restore your laptop to factory settings by simply pressing CTRL & F8 together (I think that these are the correct keys for Vista)when the Dell logo screen appears, then a Norton Restore screen will appear click okay and 6/7 mins later your PC is back at the state it was when delivered - DOWNSIDE all that you have installed / updated or saved will be lost.. this is really a last resort option but everytjing is back to factory settings: The registry, power options, pre-installed software etc.

Thanks for that Bill. I might even go down that road because it only means reloading the programmes and updates, I haven't done any work on it so far :O)

Just an update on my Roxio Easy Media Creator.

They never answered my 2 emails to tech support so I went on their site and it said "talk to a tech" so I clicked this link.

Within a minute up came "hi I'm Luke. How may I help you".

I told him I hadnt had replies to the emails and gave him the help ticket numbers. Then nothing. Waited about 3 minutes and then "Sorry to keep you". Another minute later and "try this and come back if it doesn't work, have a good day".

There was a link to a patch, installed it and hey presto! the program installed and whats more the audio capture works so I can capture streaming radio music :O)
