I have a leaking bathroom tap in my Abbey.

I have tried to remove the tap by undoing it and by removing the sink which because of the way the sink is supported does not help.

The problem is to disconect the pipes from the tap base.

They seem to be terminated into some sort of in black plastic pushfit end which has a small rim or lip like an upside down hat rim. I have tried with widish screwdriver blade to ease one side but thought it best to consult the experts befor proseeding.

The dealer says to take him the tap but as he is 50 miles away would prefer to take it disconected.

Mike I had one just the other week. All you do is push the black plastic rims in with your thumb and pull the pipes out. As you say it is a pushfit so don't try the screwdriver method or you will damage the pipes.

Thank you very much it worked a treat.shows that brute force and ignorance is not always the answer.

Was the unit repairable? looking at it it's a sign of the times and forces you into a total replacement rather than a quick washer job. If it is a replacement how much was it, if you don't mind me asking. Its just that rural Norfolk is not the cheapest if you dont know what you are on about.

found the bit that cracked, definatly designed obsilesence (or synical old sod).

I drained the van but did not leave the tap in the centre.

My fault I supose. after all one would not expect anything in a caravan to be exposed to the cold now would you.

Mike What happened to ours was due to frost. I didn't leave the tap open during the winter and when the water inside the tap froze it forced the inside up a couple of threads so the water could escape. I didn't know this until we had bought a new one at a cost of
