Removing roof vent

The small roof vents that are normally situated in the kitchen area roof space, to remove them for cleaning is it just a question of removing the four screws that hold the two handles in place to the roof vent, is it best to have the vent closed or open for removal, I have visions of springs flying out everywhere, 🙂

It's easier to remove the screws when the roof light is open as the handles aren't under tension, but when i did mine i put a rubber tap washer under the screw head to create a seal between the screw head & the rooflight.

Sprocket,
Thanks for the correct info on removing the fan lights, four screws removed and off they came, 🙂
