Repair to Fiamma Caravanstore

Due to sudden wind squall the fabric of my Fiamma has torn for about 3 inches along the joint to the bag. The tear is right at the end as you would expect.
Any suggestions as to suitable materials for repair. i was thinking of some srtong tape top and bottom of the tear but the adhesive would need to be flexible, so I think something like epoxy would perhaps not be suitable.
 
You probably need to sew on a patch made out of a similar material, covering both sides of the tear, as it will now be a weak point. Any adhesive tape will peel off over a period of time due to the weather.
