Replacing jockey wheel

The plastic jockey wheel on our 91 Swift is starting to fall apart, literally. I think its about time it was replaced.

The current jockey wheel and post is a two piece afair, mounted inside the a frame.

Is it a case of unscrewing till it drops off, then unclamping the top half?

a lot of the new ones i have seen are one peice and come in two sizes 42mm and 48mm. Which size do i need and will a one peice work or should i look for a two peice?

It is prob a 48 if its in the middle you may need a 2 pice if its side mounted you can use a single the main point is the load they can come in light ,med ,heavy so get the right on dont go for a cheap trailor one get a propper caravan (alko?) one.

Why not just replace the wheel itself? You can get them for £3-£5 at most caravan dealers. The are usualy just held in by a split pin at both ends of the axle tube.
