Replacing the roof on a old 1988 Caravette 5

Hello all. I'm sending you this message all the way from South Africa.

I have an old Caravette 5 caravan that had a leak in the pop uproof that caused massive damage.

I'm unable to repair my existing roof, I need to replace it. I am planing to build a custom pop up roof from fibreglass (roof will be solid and not joined as per attached draweling)

I'm Planning on creatinf a mould with 3mm mdf with the correct shape and size. Then once the fibreglass is done, install a new frame with 16mm mdf and fibreglass the new frame as a part of the new roof for support and structure then a new ceiling with 6mm MDF and paint it white.

My question is, would the fibreglass release from the mdf mould if I use Pva releasing agent? Or is the mdf to porous ?

Second question, I'm planning on installing new led strip lights in an aluminum channel. Is there anything else you would recommend I do additional?

Thank you very much. Lookin forward to you advice and ideas.

The release agent can either be a combination of parting wax and PVA, or a one-step release agent such as FibRelease. When using wax, apply four coats, waiting one hour between the second and third coats. After the final wax coat has been buffed, spray three thin mist coats of PVA and allow it to dry for 30-45 minutes.

Goeie dag meneer. Our friends had the same type of caravan in South Africa. Towed it with a V6 VW Kombi. Nice unit and hope you manage to get it sorted. Tot siens.
