Hi Anthony,

Lutz is absolutely correct. One of the things that always used to puzzle me about Explorer Group caravans in recent years was that they produced two ranges of caravans - Elddis and Compass - that were essentially identical except for the cosmetics such as upholstery and trim...BUT the Elddis models had reversing lights and the Compass ones didn't.

Cheers

Actually John it is not a legal requirement that they work. You see your car reversing lights are not a tested item on a MOT as they are classed as accessories.

Going back to pre 13 pin plugs, the old 7 pin N plug carried all the road legal lighting requirements and your 7 pin s plug had the fridge and batery charging on it. It was through this plug that the reversing lights were wired.

Personally I use hazard flashers when reversing and have a beeper fitted to the car in the reversing light circuit. This seems more effective.
