rewiring a trailer

I know this isnt a caravan issue but my husband needs a bit of advice about the trailer we have.

The lights on the right hand side of the trailer when he indicates to go right, the indicator comes on/off, the brakelight and side light all flash on/off together. When he indicates left nothing happens and the same happens when he hits the brake, no lights come on at all.

Any budding electricians out there that can help please???????

many thanks

Hi Sylvia

Assuming you have checked that both the car and trailer sockets themselves are correctly wired and not shorting out then it seems you have a very bad earth in the system.

Check all the light clusters are earthed correctly and that all connections are good.

Try that first and then work along the whole system checking all the wires for damage.

I assume the car itself is coreectly wired up and the problem stems from your trailer.

Cheers

Alan
