Morning all, I wonder if anyone could add any coments to the following.

I am thinking of purchasing a rhyno lite caravan mover, for my 1440kg caravan. I have read lots of info and comments on various other models, esp powrtouch with their hundreds of satisfied customer, and also understand their price matching policy, but the Rhyno seems an excellent product for £599. (self fit)

Does anyone have a Rhyno mover fitted to there van who could comment on its performance.?

I dont wish to start another post on which is the best mover, just any information on the Rhyno product and service would be great.

Many thanks

Mike

We've had our Rhyno for two years now (fitted by the company) and are still as delighted with it as on the first day! Definitely the best 'accessory' we have bought for the caravan. Our 'van has a max weight of 1325kg and we have a 110 amp battery.

Richard, many thanks, is yours the Rhyno lite(1800kg) or the slightly larger rhyno charger(2200kg)

Do you have the manual activation? if so, how do you find this?

Rhyno say they have the greatest ground clearance of any model, any observations on this.

Thanks again

Mike

I fitted my Rhyno Lite at the beginning of the last year and couldn't have got into some of the pitches we used in Italy without it. Fitting it is quite easy - it takes about half a day, but take your time to see how everything goes as the instructions aren't that good (unless they've been revised since then). On mine, one side didn't work after it was all connected up and I eventually had to ring Rhyno. All that was needed was a small adjustment. Although this is obviously a common problem (my friend's suffered the same fault and they knew exactly what was wrong when I telephoned), the instructions don't cover the problem. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly what was needed - a small bolt was loosened to allow the mover to drop into the right alignment and then tightened up again. I complained about the instructions at the time, but the arrogant (but knowledgeable) owner Simon couldn't see any reason to change. He seems to have an extremely low opinion of the mechanical abilities of his customers. I also found that the bottom plate on both chassis clamps started to bend as I tightened the 4 bolts, so I stopped thinking that I was overdoing it. Simon later informed me that they are meant to bend and could see no reason why he should publish torque settings to assist with this. Despite this, I am very happy with the product which has worked well.

Hi Mike

We had a Rhyno Charger fitted by the supplier in January this year. We have had issues with the mover, constant clicking and not engaging properly. We have spoken several times to Simon (would agree with John's comments about him) but have to say he did come out to our house one evening after work and spend a long time trying to fix the problem, even changing the unit, and the remote. I think he needs to work more on customer care as he is very defensive of his product and is more inclined to blame the user rather than the product.

However, we were still having issues, and we eventually externally charged the battery (as a flat batter had been identified as a potential problem) and the mover worked great. Had the on board charger checked and it turned out that the charger and the battery weren't even connected!!!! This was rectified and the mover has been much better since so fingers crossed for a smooth mover from now on.

Would recommend the product as when it works it is great, is British made and ours has a lifetime guarantee. Please feel free to ask any further questions.

Best Wishes

John, thanks for the info. I agree with you, a little more info on the instructions would be of greater benifit to all , and I would have thought exectly the same as you re the fixing plate.

Thanks again

Janet, Jason many thanks for your reply, Your experience has not put me off,but understand what your saying. I think this will be the one for me. Rhyno say their movers have the greatest ground clearance, would you agree with this or is this something thats not really noticable againt any of the competion

Thanks again

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike

The ground clearance is the one thing that swung it for us. It is the highest one on the market. Speed humps and movers aren't good together! We also liked the guarantee. Someone who gives a lifetime guarantee doesn't expect problems.

We bought one and it was total rubbish,The list of problems was endless.Promised deliveries didn't arrive. The unit was badly designed and badly built. Ours just fell apart on our first trip. We arrived at the site after a 25 mile drive to find most of one side missing. It failed time after time Simon blamed it on the long grass on the site and or the narrow lanes in Devon???!.He however did send replacement parts to the site. I fitted the mover myself as I have a lot of experience with vans cars electrics etc.I do understand these things. On the many occasions I spoke to Simon I was treated like a complete idiot. Eventualy after contacting trading standards for advice and another heated conversation with Rhyno the unit was returned (I had to drive 400 miles to do this)and a full refund was given. We now have a Powertouch. total reliability superb and friendly back up service. Yer pays yer money.....

Paul
