RK Fuse Control

I had a RK Fuse control installed by our dealer at the start of the season and from the start it kept tripping despite being set up per the instructions. The dealer then fitted a new device and again the device trips.

We have just returned from a trip with the caravan and the following is a summary.

Pitch breaker was stated at 15amps so I set the Fuse Control to 12 amps. On several occasions the device tripped despite the calculated load being well under 12 amps. I re-set the device and later that day with minimum load being used, the pitch breaker as well as the main caravan breaker tripped. This type of situation was quite common during our trip away. I will be removing the device shorlty, however I am wondering if anyone else out there has had this type of fuse control fitted and if so have they had similar faults.

The devise is manufactured by:

REICH GmbH, Germany.

Thanks

Many thanks for your replies, yes the point re the device being uprated is interesting!

Steve: I think the electrics are OK as the van is just over one year old and has just been serviced, however I take you point.

RE RK Fuse Control

I posted a message some time ago expaining that the RK fuse control we had installed in our van failed to live up to expectations. The fuse control instead of tripping when the caravan load exceeded the pre-et value tripped the pitch breaker. Since then we have been in touch with the manufactuers and they supplied what I would call the mark 2 version. Apparently the mark 1 version did have problems which the manufacturers acknowledged. Anyway they sent us a new fuse control which was installed and have just returned from a trip with our caravn during which time the fuse control worked perfectly. We were watching TV one night with the fuse control set at 10 amps, when I think the hot water heater kicked in plus the van heating. At this point the fuse control kicked off the power and after switching off the heater and re-setting normal service was resumed.
