Road lights - problems

When I towed the caravan home, I only had 1 indicator and 1 brake light working, plus 1 running light on the front of the caravan. Luckily it was daylight. I suspected this may have been down to the faulty buzzer relay supplied with my tow bar kit as the failures seemed to be one-sided but I have now checked my car with a known good light board and it works perfectly. So I now have the problem of figuring out why the caravan lights aren't working. I have a Haynes manual on the way but can anyone tell me the correct bulb sizes for brake lights, read road lights (that switch on with headlights), indicator bulbs and front road lights - the little white ones either side of the front windows. Hoping I can buy the individual bulbs from my local motor spares place tomorrow and hopefully solve that problem. Otherwise, are caravan running lights broadly similar to car systems? Just in case I need my auto sparky to assist me.

I spent today fixing my roof light and faulty latch on a cupboard door. Have also washed the curtains and bought in some kit for resealing round the rails on the caravan as they do seem to be leaking quite badly. Fingers crossed everything will be ship shape for a week on Tuesday when we go away for the first time. :)

As the fault is not present on a different trailer board, that would indicate that the problem is with the caravan 12N plug.

Before ripping bulbs out, check the plug on the van, clean the pins and using a small flat bladed screwdriver, open up the gaps between the segments of each pin very slightly.

When you look at the pins there will be a + shaped cut in each one.

Then try the lights again. If that does not work, then is the time to start on the fittings.

Ah, think you might be onto something there Damien. The plug I think has been trailed through mud or something at some point. There was grass debris in it when I collected the caravan. I gave it a spray with WD40 but didn't do as you suggested with the screwdriver. Will give it a go tho and report back. Worse case scenario - how difficult are they to replace?
