road lights?

When I hook up to the car, (on my rear light cluster of four) I am only getting the two innermost lights to work, they even when the car ignition switched off and key removed!

Stop/Brake ,indicator,etc won't work.

It's pretty obvious that there's an electrical fault somewhere. Do you have a friend/relative with a vehicle wired for towing? If so plug your caravan into that and if all's ok, then your car has the problem. Do the same for the caravan if possible.

Once you've found out which is the problem, I would check the plug/socket connections first to make sure they're not badly corroded.

Thanks Nigel,

I took my car and connected it to another trailer - same symptoms , fog light on other trailer came on as soon as we connected the 12n socket but no other lights/indicator would work- therefore it must be the car.

Fitted a new 12n socket to the car - nowt works ,not even the fog light that lit up earlier.

just finished working on it 10 minutes ago as ,it is now getting dark.

Tomorrow I will begin to retrace the route of the supply wiring on the car
