Road Trains coming to Europe

The State of Lower Saxony in Germany has started a pilot scheme to allow 60 tonne trucks comprising a semi-trailer unit plus an additional trailer, making a total length of 25m, on certain roads. If the results of the trial are positive it's only a matter of time before they are allowed throughout Germany and after that they'll find their way over the whole of Europe. The mind boggles and I reckon it'll give quite a number of caravanners a scare when overtaking or being overtaken by one of those juggernauts.

Probably not. The state of our bridges, roads and motorways would make it difficult to get above walking pace. It's the way we like things though Lutz, it's kept the French at bay for years......

Oh goody, does that mean I can put a tow bar on the caravan to take my sailing dinghy along on holiday too? It's dammed hard work using the push hitch on the front of the car to take both at once.

Only kidding, I couldn't resist a little wind up!!

There's enough folks who can't reverse one trailer let alone two.

Don't tell the farmers they'll all want one.

At present only showmans tractors can legally tow two trailers in the UK. I think they are restricted to 20MPH though and a fixed max distance from the operating center (home base)

On the E50 going up the hill just outside Prague is incredible with the monster trucks and trailers. Really slow moving, no faster than 20 mph. Still at least they can't overtake one another, no one can get up enough speed. And no need to worry about the caravan stability because they can't pass you either.
