Actually, as noted earlier, not. When this first arose a few years ago I contacted Grade (before they became VisionPus) and was told quite definitely that they design them to travel blunt end forward so as to reduce wind loading.

I've seen 'em of late travelling at 45deg from horizontal and pointing diagonally across the caravan roof, albeit still with the blunt end nearest the front!

I think everybody is saying the same - blunt end towards the front, pointed end backwards. Even if there are still concerns as to whether it is an aerofoil or not it still acts like a weather vane and the longest surface behind the pivot is down wind, which it is when pointing backwards. ;)

Hi BP I have always travelled blunt end forwards or if you like Red Dot facing front of caravan. Just one point though the locking ring on the bottom of the aerial inside caravan ,DO NOT do it up too tight its a hell of a job to undo them if you have been beefee with it. I have put a small amount of plumbers grease on ours and usually just *** the locking ring but as I said not too tight .

Seems like the position of the red dot can vary. The red dot on ours denotes the pointed end and therefore points towards the back when travelling. :)

Yes, the locking ring can be difficult to undo if done up too tight. :( have found out from experience.

In my Status 530 instruction booklet, it says I quote " When travelling adjust the antenna so that the RED SPOT on the bottom of the mast points towards the rear of the vehicle to reduce the possibility of damage when travelling".

The RED SPOT on the bottom of the mast indicates the front (Pointy end) of the Antenna.

See top right of page one of the manual.

Also, picture this as a reminder of the correct way to store the aerial when travelling

Morning all, well I reckon the polls are now closed, all votes have been cast, and the winner is a resounding victory for blunt end facing forward regardless of where the red dot then faces, as I said previously we never use a TV so I've positioned it blunt end forward, tightened up the locking ring and there it will stay till such time as I become bored with caravaning and the great outdoors to the point where I need to pass the time checking if Ena Sharples still wears that hairnet or if Dirty Den has come back from the dead again, or maybe if I get that bored with it I might just call it a day, I hope I'm never that bored though.

Thanks all for the input.

BP
