Rooflight has now been replaced

I am pleased to say after all the help and advice you good people gave me I have replaced my first rooflight. The biggest job was removing the old one and the mastic. The problem now is there is about half an inch of mastic on the roof of the van all around the rooflight,I will not make that mistake when I replace the other rooflight. Do I leave it ,or try to remove it, and if so how do I do that?without damaging the roof.
Any ideas please.
Bob

As long as the rooflight is sealed and leak-proof you could remove excess mastic with a plastic freezer scraper similar to This One white spirit and clean cloth or rag.
