Rotation sensitive tyres

Many new tyres are now "rotation sensitive" such that you can only swop them front and rear and not side to side.

Given only one spare wheel on car and caravan, it seems a 50/50 chance that it will have the "wrong" rotation when needed.

Does anyone have experience / knowledge to advise how far such a reversed tyre can reasonably be run ?

Treat it like a space-saver if it has to be fitted to the wrong side - ie to get you to a repairer.

For this very reason I never buy directional tyres when replacements are needed.

Asymetric tyres are different, they have an inside/outside which the tyre fitter needs to check so that it goes on the rim the correct way round but theses can be fitted either side.

I would be very suprised to see directional tyres fitted to a caravan, I can see no advantage in fitting them on a low speed non tractional /non steering application.
