Route from Birmingham to Buxton

Can anyone help with the best route we will be coming up the M5 to Birmingham, but what is the best route after Brum to Buxton the site is on the A515 i have never been to that area and would appreciate any advice on the best towing route.

I've gone up the M6 then came off at Stafford or Stoke and continued via Leek then a straight run across to Buxton. Can be a little congested through the Potteries at peak times but generally not too bad.
 
The M6 to to Stoke or Stafford was one of my choices, but an engineer who came onto work on monday suggested M5, then M42 through Lichfield and get straight onto the A515. We have until the end of May to decide.
