Hi all. I know that a few of you have travelled this route before and that although a little 'twisty' in places you have found it to be an enjoyable drive.

I am travelling from Vernioz to la Colle Sur Luop (Near Nice) in September and would like to travel the RN in one day as I have sites booked at either end.

If I go via Tolls it will take me about four to five hours, but if I use the RN, the estimates vary depending on which route planner you use.

I know it will be a long day of driving, but have any of you done this in a day and if so is is feasible or should I stick with the less attractive Toll option?

We rode a good part of route Napoleon last week on route to Germany and passed a few British caravanners and motorhomers including a forty foot GB registered American RV towing a Smart. You will enjoy the drive it is well worth it for the scenery. If you use Google Earth or Via Michelin maps satellite view you can follow the route and get a good idea on the roads and scenery.

Thanks Euro - I nkw that the ecenery is well worth it - I just wish I had planned to do it over a couple of days - main thing I need to know is if it is feasible to do it all in one day

With a good start it will not be a problem and that's including plenty stops on route for a breaks and photo's.

Take a look at the distances given here http://www.beyond.fr/sites/rtnapol.html

Industry and heavy goods vehicle drive the route.
