Now here's a question which I've often thought about.

When rowing a boat, why can't you row facing the direction you're going in?

If it's something to do with whatever, why haven't 'they' come up with something which allows you to row and face the direction you're going in?

You cannot get as much force pushing your arms away from you as you can pulling towards you.

Its best to pull with your shoulders, rather than push. Now ..... if somebody could find a way of using your legs ......

OT ... Statistics. I was reading recently that University rowing club members have surprisingly short average life anticipation. So that suggests that rowing is not good for your health. But further research indicated that many NAVY fliers were members of their University rowing club.

This was true in WW2. They were Kamikazes.

Someone did produce a rowing system with a gear box mounted on the sides of the boat to reverse the motion of the pull that did allow to face the way were going. I remember seeing it in the 1960's. It was rather complex to provide all the motions needed.

As for leg power seaside pedelo's?
