My daughter is a stay at home mum so it looks as if she might have to get a job.

I thought you said in previous posts (probably about a year or so ago) that your daughter chose to be a stay at home mum.

Correct, is there any reason she shouldn't stay at home to raise her children or is that old fashioned?

But if she goes to work, who is going to look after the children and keep the house up to scratch?

I think most of the UK are behind the posties, I am for one.

Don't let this government get away with devastating Royal Mail like they did to the Post Office.

Mind you, it is all part of a master plan, so I think we are all doomed.

Hi

Sorry, more interesting OTs

At one time the Post Office was part of the Civil Service. Their pay was abated by 8.5% as an invisible contribution to their non-contibutory pension. But when they went private, they fell out of the CS pension scheme. They were given a 8.5% pay rise, with which to make pension contributions. So why can't HMG afford to pay their pensions?

I understand that the PO made a big loss in the first year after they went private. It seems that nobody had taken into account that they now had to pay road tax on al their vehicles.

No doubt somebody will tell me what REALLY happened. ???

Simple, fit in the job with schooling and at times we will help, she lives 5 minutes away. Help, financial or otherwise doesn't stop once the kids get married unfortunately. She also has two older children, both at college, and they are quite capable of looking after their two younger sisters. Anything else you need to know please ask :O)

As a Royal Mail pensioner, I fully support the postmen, although some of our local lads have booked leave days, rather than strike.
Emmo I'm not sure if it's universal but every 5 weeks my SIL has a week of because of working Saturdays. This week is his week off :O)

Oh right, bit of a culture shock for her then, having to go to work after all this time.

I don't consider a housewifes job easy so not really. My wife was a stay at home mother and there was always someone at home when the kids arrived from school as there is with my daughters children. I appreciated how hard my wife worked when the kids were young ;O) At times we also had help in emergencies from my MIL/FIL so are just repaying what we had.

I don't consider bringing up children easy either (if you do it correctly). However, I just wondered how your daughter feels at the possibility of having to get a job when she always chose to stay at home to look after the children and house etc.
