Rubber capping strip

My van has rubber capping strip over the seals over the awning rail, windows, etc. It is grey in colour. Some of this has become very brittle and discoloured and keeps falling out its meal channel I am trying to find a mail-order supplier of this. Any suggestions

Incidentally I discovered from my dealer that the strip that was only discoloured can be cleaned up beautifully using thinners.

Thanks

Tim

Hi Tim if you don't mind taking the strip out you can put it in the washing machine, they clean up a treat , I have just done mine because they went all sticky , My strips are plastic but look like rubber. Ron.J

I think you'll find that most caravan dealers will sell it by the metre off a roll - in various colours - presuming you are referring to the coloured cover strip that hides the screws in the awning rail etc.

This stuff tends to shrink a bit in service, and you see vans with a few inches of channel exposed sometimes. Take care not to stretch it when re fitting or you can expect this to happen. Some fitters carry a surplus under the van floor and pin or screw it in place which is good idea if your design allows this.
