we have a black lab whose paws get very dirty when the ground is muddy. the caravan carpet used to get muddy too until i came across rug mats which are very cheap to buy. one of these by the door inside saves on a lot of cleaning up after the dog. the mat absorbs the wet and dirt from his paws and keeps me sane and the carpet clean. It also stays in one place and rarely moves. hope this tip helps others with dogs

Hi Sian

Im off to tesco right now!!

Im sick of buying mats for the van that drive me crazy "walking"

most of the ones Ive bought do more miles on our breaks than we do!!

Hope they work

Velcro 'coins' stuck on the underside of mats stop them walking along the carpet - the little hooks grip carpets very well. Not found a use for the unused felt halves yet though.

Hi Mike

You could use the other halves of the velcro pads perhaps to stick under objects and ornaments to stop them scratching furniture, as buffers to stop cupboard doors banging when closing. There must be lot's of other uses but my minds gone blank right now. You should organise a competition to see who can come up with the most uses for them!!!

Best regards. Bill

Another use for Velcro hooky pads - though not really a caravanning issue - for anyone who has to display a no smoking sign in the car but does not want it there when using the car for personal use. Mount no smoking sign on stiff card, put Velcro on back and attach it to the interior trim - assuming the trim is cloth. Remove when car is in private use. ( Not all cloth trim will hold Velcro though. )

We bought some carpet like material that you place between the upper mat and the caravan mat. Now no more carpets going walkies on their own. It evens works with carpets on a vinyl floor. One of the best purchase's we have ever made!

Hi Sian,

Alas no further ideas - unless you can persuade the black lab to wear little boots like some rescue dogs have to stop them getting cut paws when searching through damaged buildings. Crocs for dogs ? ?

hi all

used the velcro in the caravan and it worked brill

the reason it will not work at home is the difference in the pile the caravan carpet is looped. thought you might want to know this but will try the rug grip at home.

the rag mat works great against wet and muddy paws
