I watch a bit of it yesterday and was not impressed with the line fo questioning as they seemed not to be asking the relevant questions. A case of asking a question that allows you an easy route out?

Hi Surfer

I agree, this, sadly, is corruption in the like we probably have never seen before, I don`t think the truth will ever come out completely. Scandalous in the extreme.

I agree, these committees are a waste of time and money, but they keep alot of highly paid people in a job, and allows our MPs the oppitunity to justifie thier existance and expence accounts.

I agree that the hacking is totally unacceptable, I do think tho that it has been blown up out of all proportion by 2 sets of people who have done so for there own reasons, firstly we have the media who choose to whip up the story so as to bring down the Murdoch empire and in doing so obviously sell more papers themselves, you would think that every other newspaper was whiter than white when I believe they are all as guilty of the same tactics, we then have the second group responsible for the frenzy and they in my opinion are the biggest bunch of crooks to draw breath as well as being the most hypocritical people I could imagine, politicians!! What a load of scumbags, talk about pigs at the trough, there isn't an honest one amongst them in my opinion, the excuses they were making when they got caught out was amazing, so an opportunity to give the press a hard time is like winning the lottery to the thieving scumbags, how they have the chhek to spout on about honesty is beyond belief, the phrase pot calling the kettle etc comes to mind.
I also find it funny that these whiter than white politicians can put off their couple of months of holidays that they should be on to discuss the hacking but the problems facing the whole of Europe because of the likes of Greece etc being totally skint and other world crisis such as the drought in Africa barely get mentioned, I think there's something wrong with peoples priorities myself.

The problems in Greece are of the European Unions making due to the Euro and trying to treat all their economies as equal. Also the Greeks, at least the Socialists, wont accept the cuts needed to bring their economy back on track so go on strike or riot. Spain will be next joining the exclusive club with members like Portugal, Eire and soon Italy.
Needless to say our government will throw money to them despite us not being members of the Eurozone due to the last government, the only decent thing Labour did in thirteen years. Typically though in their dying breath before leaving office they signed up to help the ailing economies of the said Eurozone countries.
Africa is a problem that will never go away until again they are willing to be responsible for their own actions. Starving or not, food and water in short supply yet they still have numerous children, more mouths to feed.
Again progressive governments throw money at Africa which ends up arming despots like Mugabwe and allowing them to live a lifestyle that none of us could afford. This government have made 14 billion available for foreign aid. Some of this money goes to nuclear India who also have a space programme. We are scrapping aircraft carriers, putting on hold the building of their replacements and when they are built unable to put aircraft on them for twenty years. Unbelievably Russia and China are happy recipients of our charity although I belive the government are going to scrap theirs

Get the E.U. to scrap their CAP and allow free trade. That might help countries in Africa rather than politicians trying to absolve their guilt by splashing money to the third world, money we are borrowing from the World Bank because we haven't got it to begin with because we are over two trillion in debt.
Regarding Murdoch I don't believe he knew anything about the hacking until the scandal broke.
Regarding the imbecile who threw the foam at him he should be done for assault. Just another of Red Ed's anarchists like the pampered plonker who was jailed this week. The only problem was the sentence should have been longer plus the other 250 who were discharged (in the public interest, no doubt a few of high societies sons among them) should also have been jailed.
I must admit that statement from the CPS did worry me. They said they had the evidence to gain successful prosecutions but it "wasn't in the public interest". Why ever not, they are criminals??????????

How clever those Murdoch's are in weaving their tangled web.
Super Rupe said News International in the UK only represented 1% of his newspaper empires turnover.

Yet The Sun is one of his best papers , ranking 10th in the world with 2,782,110 copies going out daily in April 2011.
His News of The World managed 2,700,000 approx every sunday.
I'm only a dog but even I can't get the numbers to add up??
How can one part of your business that is ranked 10th in the world only be 1% of your Organisation.

Many of you will remember the Hillsborough disaster of 1989 and the Litany of Lies published by teh Sun. They accused fans of pickpocketting the dead crushed fans. All LIES.
The Sun had to apolopgise and eat HUMBLE pie. And Rupe says yeaterday was the most HUMBLE in his life.
What a sacriligous joke.
Once a Liar always a Liar. Whoops I meant to say a Leopard doesn't change his spots but my delete button has failed

I don't wish to appear to defend Rupert Murdoch's statement, but it is quite conceivable that his UK newspaper business really does amount to only 1% of the turnover of News Corporation. I would imagine that the entertainment business (for example 20th Century Fox) and television (especially Fox in the US and a whole host of its subsidiaries) make up the bulk.
